Rocker arms are a critical valvetrain component, transferring motion from the camshaft or pushrod to the valve stem to open the intake and exhaust valves in precise time with crankshaft rotation. Wear, pitting, or pivot failure in even a single rocker arm disrupts valve timing and lift, causing lost compression, misfires, and accelerated guide and seat wear. Replacing rocker arms during a top-end or full engine rebuild - alongside pushrods, retainers, valve springs, and valve seals - restores correct valvetrain geometry and avoids the compounding tolerance stack that shortens a fresh rebuild's service life.
