The Walker Products Vehicle Speed Sensor (part number 240-1088) is a direct-fit replacement for 2001-2007 Ford and Mercury vehicles with 4.2L, 3.9L, and 3.0L engines. Vehicle Speed Sensors send electrical pulses to the computer, pulses which are generated through a magnet that spin a sensor coil. When the vehicle’s speed increases, the frequency of the pulse also increases.
